Welcome to Hooked on Cycling Holidays and our cycling holiday in Northern Spain. Our cycling holiday in Northern Spain takes through the coastal region west of Santander and then looping back to the foothills of the Picos de Europa mountains. This cycling holiday is a lovely seven night self led cycle tour which we grade as a level 2 tour as we believe it is suitable for beginner and experienced cyclists. on this cycling holiday you can extend your trip by spending extra nights in Bilbao and visit the old quarters and then famous museums there. On this cycle tour we can carry your luggage as with most holidays but also you can opt to carry your own if you wish and experience a cycling holiday with a difference along the Santander Coast and Picos Foothills.

Day 1 Arrive Santillana
Met with bilingual guide on arrival
Day 2 Santillana to San Vicente 23 miles 36 km
After exploring the medieval village of Santillana cycle through lemon groves and green pastures before arriving at the beautiful unspoilt beaches of Oyambre. Soon you arrive at the quaint fishing village of San Vicente.
Day 3 San Vicente optional rides 15 , 24, 34, 43 miles ( 24, 39, 55 , 68 km )
Today choose to cycle or explore San Vicente and surrounding area with lovely beaches nearby , a nature reserve or look at the daily catch being unloaded before you try out one of the many fish restaurants.
Day 4 San Vicente to Llanes 27 miles , 43km
Heading along the coast with the impressive Sierra de Cuera mountains as your backdrop. Briefly cycling into the foothills of Picos de Europa before returning to the coast and the wonderful beach at Llanes. 
Day 5 Llanes optional rides 17 , 20, 25 miles ( 27, 32 , 41 km )
Another day to spend time on a beach at Llanes or explore by bike or foot the small villages around Llanes.
Day 6 San Roque to Somo 28 miles 44 km
Today you are picked up and transferred inland to just above San Roque on the mountain road . Here you can follow the freewheeling descent down the River Miera to the Bay of Santander. The scenery on route changes from the dramatic craggy limestone cliffs to the gentle rolling green pasture to eventually the sight of the approaching coastline.
Day 7 Somo optional rides 12, 27 , 53 miles ( 18 , 42, 85 km )
The last day to cycle along the coast to Santoria and Laredo or sight see the many treasures of Somo . Even take an excursion to Bilbao or explore the many shops in Santander across the bay

How to get there
Fly low cost to Bilbao or to Santander with Ryanair
BY Ferry
Take Brittany Ferries Plymouth to Santander. This takes 24 hours and arrives and departs from Santander every Tuesday and Thursday. From Santander ferry port transfers are available.
By Car
To Santillana where car parking is available
By Plane
To Bilbao or Santander airport where on arrival transfers are available by car to Santillana. Go , Air France, BA are the major airlines flying into Bilbao.
