Cycling holiday in the Loire Valley

Available Saturdays & Sundays  31st March to 21st October
and also Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4th July to 23rd August
Level 1-2 self guided tour

Day 1 Arrival in La-Ferté-Saint-Cyr.
La Ferté-Saint-Cyr is a small town situated near the Loire River and the silent Sologne. It is the ideal place to start our discovery of the Loire castles! You can easily reach La Ferté-Saint-Cyr from Beaugency TGV station from Paris.

Day 2 Tour in the Sologne 30 miles 48 km.
After a long time of prosperity during the Roman Age, the Sologne became after the fall of the Empire a quite isolated region. From the 11th century, especially monChambord bike vacation in Franceks started to cultivate the area. This was an improvement, but the prosperity of the Roman Age did not come back. Today, the Sologne is a silent place with beautiful nature and a farming region and a wonder to explore by bike

Day 3 La-Ferté-Saint-Cyr – Mont-près-Chambord 22-33 miles 35-52 km.
Today you will cycle along the Loire river, a river that is very important to the French people, especially because of the glorious past. You will join the river in Saint-Laurent-Nouan and pass nice Loire towns like Saint-Dyé-sur-Loire and Muides-sur-Loire. The most special experience will be entering the Parc de Chambord and the world famous castle of Chambord. Those who want, can make the cycle tour a bit longer and cycle via Blois and visit the royal castle and the cathedral there.

Day 4 Tour to Chaumont and Parc de Beauregard 37 miles 59 km.
The castle of Chaumont was once the setting of an intrigue between Catharina de Medicis and Diane de Poitiers, who both loved King Henri II. With this knowledge maybe the visit to this castle will be more exiting. In Beauregard, you can enjoy visiting the castle and its portrait gallery. Beauregard owes its popularity also to the beautiful castle park.

Day 5 Mont-près-Chambord – Noyers-sur-Cher 36 miles 57 km.
This nice cycling tour will bring you via Chitenay to the town of Pontlevoy. Here, we will have the chance to visit the abbey at Pontlevoy, with its stunning gothic church. The centre of the town is dominated by the typical rigid 18th century facades. After an unforgettable visit, it is just a small cycle ride to Noyers-sur-Cher. Chenonceau cycling holiday in France

Day 6 Tour to Montrichard and Chenonceau 34 miles 55 km.
Today you first cycle to Montrichard which really does look like a medieval town, thanks to the half-timbered houses. The former donjon is today the ideal place to overlook the region. Except Chambord, the first Loire castle people think about is Chenonceau. This castle is built partially over the river Cher and features a prominent donjon. It’s beautiful gardens are a must to sit down and relax for checking into your hotel for the night

Day 7 Noyers-sur-cher – La-Ferté-saint-Cyr 37 miles 59 km.
Unfortunately, it is already our last cycling day, but it will certainly be an interesting time ! This tour will pass the less well-known, but also beautiful castle of Chéméry. Another castle that can be visited is Cheverny. Almost at the end of this cycling day, we will have the occasion to visit the ‘chocolaterie’ of Bracieux.
