Welcome to Hooked on Cycling Holidays and our cycling holidays in France. This self guided biking vacation will allow to you explore the north west region of Provence. The Drôme Provençale region is a paradise of flavours and scents. During this cycling tour, you will be charmed by the odours of thyme, lavender, lime and olive-trees and you will be tempted to taste the regional products such as truffles, nougats, apricots and grapes. This is also the Rhone wine producing region and September is a hive of activity as the grape harvest takes place. In the area, towns and villages are rocked by the melody of fountains, proud of their feudal towers, châteaux, bell towers which are anchored in the centuries of historic traditions.

DAY 1 Arrival in Grignan
Arrival to the lovely town of Grignan. Welcome meeting at the hotel in Grignan.
DAY 2 Grignan – La Garde Adhémar - Saint-Paul 3 Châteaux – Suze la Rousse 21 miles 35km
Today you will discover typical villages of the Drôme Provençale area in particular la Garde-Adhémar, Saint-Paul-3 Châteaux, Suze la Rousse and La Garde-Adhémar. La Garde-Adhemar is known as one of the most beautiful villages of France and is worth a good visit because of the history and local craftsmen. Saint-Paul-3-Châteaux, surrounded with medieval ramparts, is the old capital city of Tricastin. You will discover the cathedral and the Saint Just chapel. Suze-la-Rouse with its renowned University of Wine in the medieval castle at the top of the village is also a must to visit.
DAY 3 Suze – Visan – Vinsobres – Nyons 22 miles 36km
After breakfast you will head off to the vineyards of Visanet de Vinsobres. You can go and visit Richerenches, where there is a truffle market on Saturdays in November and March. You are now in the large wine growing region of the Rhone and there are fields full of Grape production. Wine cellars meet you in each village. At the end of the day you will arrive in Nyons, known as an olive oil city. Look to your right and you see the huge Mont Ventoux mountain  with its space like terrain at its summit.
DAY 4 Nyons – Dieulefit 21 miles 35km
You will cycle in the Gorges de l’Eygues and then cycle through Concordet in order to go up the Valouse pass to join la Paillette. You will then go to Dieulefit.
DAY 5 Dieulefit – Grignan 21 miles 35km
After breakfast, departure in direction of Grignan through Le Poêt Laval and the marvelous restored villages of Templar. You’ll stop at the top of the Montagne de la Série, where you have an extraordinary panorama of the area. Arrival in Grignan in the afternoon. Now you have time to Discover the town and of the châteaux of Madame de Sévigné.
DAY 6 Departure after breakfast.

How to get there
By Plane to Paris , then to reach Grignan take the train to Montelimar. It takes about 4 hours by train. Then from Montelimar to Grignan you can take a taxi or we can book a taxi. This is an extra cost of £74 per transfer of 4 persons maximum.
