A splendid pilgrimage route will lead you through a canyon to Rocamadour perched high on the hillside. Wonder at the historic town with its monastery and many ancient buildings . Cycling across the Gramat limestone plateau which is an arid region with specific flora , its a land of Orchids intermingled with ancient villages. Time appears to have no effect in this area. Shepherds stone huts called Cazelles are seen in the fields , these are some 3000 years old and are circular shape with conical roofs of flat stones .
Day 3 Explore the upper Dordogne valley to Carennac The Upper part of the Dordogne River is the border of the Quercy and Dordogne regions. You will see Lacave cave and Castle , fortified villages . Carennac is a wonderful historic village probably one of the most beautiful in this region. Walk through quaint cobbled streets surround by ancient houses. Sit by the River and relax with stunning colours reflecting before you.
Day 4 Loop ride Your loop ride today will take in the amasing Castelnau perched on the hill top this fully conserved village with its medieval Castle is a stunning spectacle to see in the distances as you approach. You can then continue onto St Cere. This area of the upper Dordogne sees less tourists than a short distance down stream which is a real shame as you will appreciate once on your tour.

The chestnut grove area and its beautiful scenery is your cycling pleasure today. The Chestnut trees were actually introduced by the Romans 2000 years ago and are now what make this area famous. You will pass through more villages high on the hillside perched over rivers.
Day 6 and Day 7 Lot and Cele Valleys
Cycling onto the Lot and Cele river valleys which are surrounded by Limestone cliffs . More Castles one which is extremely narrow you will pass today.
