Welcome to Hooked on Cycling Holidays and our Cycling Holiday in Austria and Cycling holiday in Hungary. This cycle tour follows the direction of the River Danube from Vienna to Budapest. This is a three country tour as we start in Austria, then we cycle to Slovakia and lastly into Hungary. This cycle tour is a seven night self guided tour which spends a few days along the Danube before heading away from the River a little , on this cycle tour you will experience Austria, the fascinating culture of Hungary and the stunning yet unusual Slovakia. We have graded this cycling tour as a level 2 tour.

Day 1 Vienna Individual arrival to Vienna and enjoy the day looking around this wonderful historic city.
Day 2 Vienna to Bratislava, 42 miles 67 km Today you shall recieve your bikes directly on the Danube cycle path when you shall cycle out of teh city into the National Park Donauanem. Then it is onto Hainburg. Time to visit Hainburg and then to cycle to the archaeology park Carnuntum where you get to know the roman history of the area. These are the most important excavations in Austria! Further on to Wolfsthal and to the Slovakian capital of Bratislava. Optional: Each Sunday there is the possibility to take the MS Elisabeth ship from Vienna to Hainburg and then bike the 12.5 miles 20km to Bratislava. If you require this option we need to know at the time of booking.
Day 3 Bratislava to Mosonmagyarovar 28 miles 45km Today you can first explore Bratislava before continuing along the Danube cycle way to the border of Slovakia and Hungary. Then you continue in Hungary through Donasziget and onto Mosonmagyarovar.
Day 4 Mosonmagyarovar to Györ, 28 miles 45 km Today you will have the chance to visit Hedervar castle on your way to the lovely town of Gyor. .
Day 5 Györ to Komárom 40 miles 64 kms Today you cycle along the river Raba to the border of Hungary and Slovakia and on some very quiet cycling paths to Medved’ov, Cicov, Zlatna and Komarom.
Day 6 Komárom to Visegrád/Estzergom, 39 miles 61 km First you go by bike to the Slovakian part of the city and through farming villages until you reach Estzergom where you can visit the beautiful monastery. You will also see the famous Gisela Bridge. Then you cycle on to Visegrad with its old castle to visit.
Day 7 Esztergom – Budapest 40 miles 64 km by bike, 18 km by train/ship/bike. Today your cycle tour takes you from Esztergom along the right bank of the Danube all the way until the village Bubantvolgy, following again the cycle path for around 3 miles 4.5 km. Thenby ferry (payable locally) to the left side of the Danube (Szob) and further on by bike through the famous “Donauknie” which is also known as the Hungarian Switzerland to the Szentendre-Insel. In Szentendre city you can leave your bikes if you wish. From Szentendre city you catch the local train (payable on spot)to the Hungarian capital Budapest or late afternoon take the boat to Budapest (departure 5.00 pm payable locally approx. 10,50€ per person) or you can cycle the last 20km into Budapest.
Day 8: Budapest Additional nights in Budapest or return to Vienna by arranged bus/train. The earliest time you can arrive in Vienna is around 2pm.
